Bromate

Bromate is a product of the ozone that reacts with bromide (naturally found in water) when disinfecting water. Although low doses of bromate found in drinking water have not been proven to be harmful, long-term exposure and preexisting health conditions may increase the risk of some cancers and kidney problems. If ingested in large quantities it is known to cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
