Barium

Barium in an inorganic compound that reaches the water supply due to the discharge of drilling wastes, discharge from metal refineries and erosion of natural deposits that contain barium. This metal has been linked to increased and decreased blood pressure, numbness around the face, muscle weakness, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and breathing difficulties. Ingesting large amounts of barium can cause heart rhythm changes and even paralysis.
