Calcium occurs naturally in water. It is a mineral that is found in the earth’s crust. While there is no known health effects from consuming  until you get to much higher levels, it can cause build up in you home’s plumbing – especially in washing machines and from shower-heads. The white build up you see on many spigots and drains in your house can be attributed to calcium build-up.
