Di(2ethylhexyl) adipate

This manufactured liquid chemical has been used as a hydraulic fluid, and a component of aircraft lubricants. It can find its way to your drinking water due to discharge from chemical factories and accidental consumption. It hasn’t been proven to be highly toxic in the doses usually present in drinking water, but it has been linked to weight loss, liver damage and possible reproductive difficulties in previous studies with animals.
