Dichloropropane

A manufactured chemical used as an oil fumigant, paint stripper, varnish, and furniture finish remover up until the 1980s when it was banned. It is now mostly used in products such as degreasers and dry cleaning fluid, and can be introduced to the water supply due to discharge from industrial chemical factories and their improper disposal of materials. Long-term consumption or exposure to this chemical has been said to cause liver, kidney and brain damage, decreases in male fertility, and potentially cancer.
